Janet Moore lives and paints in the northern California fishing village of Bodega Bay. Her landscapes of coastal prairies, ranch land pastures, historic barns and dairy farms capture an authentic sense of rural Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino Counties. Using a simplified palette of just three primary colors and a distinctive minimalistic style, her images suggest a type of visual poetry.
“Geometry of the landscape and the architecture of pastoral life is my inspiration. Northern California is rich with landscapes anchored by historic family farms. The vibrant color of grassland pastures, farms and ranches inspires my work and provides a counter-point to other images that describe the subtle light, movement and drama of coastal fog and the sea.”
