Janet developed her approach to painting over many years. Her goal is to provide each painter with the knowledge,
skill and confidence that will enable them produce work that they love. In a non-competitive atmosphere students
are encouraged to "learn by doing" using many well-designed exercises.
Tuesday September 30
Session One: Materials and Methods
Get to know your materials…learn and experiment with different styles of acrylic paint, brushes, palette knives, supports and palettes.
Tuesday October 7
Session Two: Color
Learn basic color theory and practice mixing colors, learning about color relationships, transparency, temperature and the benefit of working with a limited palette.
Tuesday October 14
Session Three: Shape
Using value, color and identification of the light source you'll learn to create dimension.
Tuesday October 21
Session Four: Observation, Studies and Sketches
Learn techniques for preparation of a painting and preliminary steps to creating your interpretation.
Tuesday October 28
Session Five: Composition and Design
Understanding how design and composition concepts can guide your landscape, still life and abstract paintings.
Tuesday November 4
Session Six: Creating Paintings that You Like
The joy of painting comes when you become enthusiastic about
what you have painted. Learn how to express your individual
interpretation of an image or emotion.
No
experience is necessary yet experienced painters are welcomed.
Bring an apron/painting smock or wear old clothes. Hand-outs
provided.
